22 scientific teams have joined forces to unite the two thriving fields of epigenetics and systems biology in a common Network of Excellence “EpiGeneSys”, funded by the 7th Framework Programme (FP7).
The network’s inter-disciplinary research programme addresses fundamental epigenetic mechanisms in quantitative terms, both spatially and temporally, in order to model and predict how the balance between maintenance and erasure of epigenetic information varies in specific contexts.
The aim of this open competitive call is to expand this network by integrating 9 young researchers (within their first 3 years of independence) into EpiGeneSys. The goal is to foster exchange and discussion between junior and senior researchers and innovative SMEs in order to generate a long-lasting impact on the convergence of epigenetics and systems biology, reach out to other related scientific communities in Europe, as well as enhance the impact of EpiGeneSys on the development of new concepts, technologies and key human medical applications.
Young PI applicants should demonstrate a strong focus on applying tools of systems biology to solve questions of epigenetics.
Submission deadline for application : 29th April 2011, 13h00 CET
